Village Tour
Bullock carts, a lake canoe and a home-cooked village lunch
A half-day away from the jeep: the Village Tour takes you into a real Sri Lankan farming village near Habarana, the way locals actually get around and eat, not a staged show.
You'll ride a bullock cart down a dirt lane, paddle a dugout canoe across the Kandalama lake, hop on a farm tractor through the paddy fields, and sit down to a home-cooked village lunch served on banana leaves, cooked with the family who hosts you.
Good to know
- Book it for the day you're not on an afternoon safari, so you're not rushing the lunch.
- Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty on the bullock cart and tractor legs.
- Tell us about any food allergies when you book. The village meal is cooked fresh for your group.
